EPOC 6011:974.151 - Note 20.

[Note 20.]

The scratches apparently are of natural origins. Thorough scan of the entire surface proved them to be completely random. But the fact is, that even though the material is unknown, starboard computer managed to recognize two different patterns in a molecular structure of this cube. Sides are different to the edges, which implies that the cube was forged from two unknown materials to finally form its current shape. It may be some sort of a container, but I have no idea how to open it. There must be something important inside. I wonder what it may be?
I remember an old deep space pilot telling a story that he allegedly used to possess a similar thing - a container that no one knew how to open and during one of his trips it suddenly popped wide open showing him things that I think are rather inappropriate to quote here. Everyone then made a good laugh of him and suggested that he might not actually mean a space journey by saying 'trip' and that he should definitely cut himself off from catnip. I was laughing too, but now I think that there might have been a grain of truth in the story told by that old fella. What if there are special conditons that when met would activate a secret mechanism inside the cube and open it? And what the conditions may be? What might be hidden inside it if anything?

[Note 19.]

I have tried to crush one of the sides and drill through the other, but everything I did was of no avail. The material seems to be indestructible. And it is still unknown to me what kind of stuff I am dealing with. Could it be that someone carved the surface on purpose and these scratches actually mean something? But what kind of technology one would have to use for such a task? Wait. Is there a pyramid drawn? Nah, I am tired. Am I seeing things? It's just the light playing on the surface. But maybe not? What if there are some clues hidden in it? Or maybe there were none but the erosion responsible for these scratches and they actually mean nothing?

EPOC 6011:972.331 - Note 18.

[Note 18.]

I have analysed the radio waves coming out from the artifact I found on P0012_P1_0005. They oscillate around 5Hz and produce a series of clicks. They also switch phase regularly. Stardrifter's computer analysed them further and I was presented with the following numbers: -18,928; 29,680; -67,336. There is only one conclusion.
These are Balastrackonastreya's parsis coordinates!
Whoever had left this, wanted to point to our homesystem. But why? A message that the Felisians have been there? It makes sense. An explorers wanting others to know where they were from. Their origins. There are many scratches and cavities on the surface. What is hidden inside if anything? Dimensions are exactly 19 units. What is amazing is that despite the fact that the cube has surely seen its better days, the edges are so well preserved. Maybe they are not a part of the cube, but they are a part of some kind of a frame hidden underneath the material covering the sides? There must be something, right?

EPOC 6011:962.112 - Note 17.

[Note 17.]

It took me a while longer than I expected to fix the malfunction. Fortunately, it was the radiation shielding that was the cause of my ship's problems. Now my vimana drive's efficiency is back to normal and my ship is ready to go. The only problem I have encountered after having fixed the shield was automatic calibration - it simply didn't work and I had to recalibrate the caps manually.
Surface capsule is ready and I have already picked my LZ to be at LQ 339:056 coords, because I have got multiple readings on my landing planner's screen near that location and I assume that these may be the structures I am looking for - the pyramids built by our ancestors - the beacons left there to guide us through the void of space. At least that is what I believe them to be. I know there is a pattern. It just has to be dicovered through the analysis of their coordinates.
Right now I'm going through some checklists and then - see you on the surface!

EPOC 6011:961.794 - Note 16.

[Note 16.]

I have packed some supplies to my surface capsule - mostly water tanks and protein bars. The most of P0012_P1_0005's surface is covered by desert and I expect to encounter harsh environment down there. I'm almost ready to go, but first I have to deal with my vimana drive.
I have noticed recently a slightly decreased energetic efficiency of the main reactor while travelling in subspace resulting in higher Li+ ions consumption. My starboard computer's self-diagnostics routines hadn't been able to point out where the problem lies, thus my engine was left as it were - at 99.7519% of its normal operational duty cycle and I have to fix the problem myself. Right now I can only think of two causes - polarized power couplings or overcharged capacitors. The latter shouldn't even occur normally, because caps can get overcharged only if the radiation shielding is damaged or punctured, which can result in overcharge caused by highly energetic particles bombarding the caps' uncovered socket mounts instead of their shield.
Normally, I would go for checking power couplings first, but since I have been to a few highly radiated systems before - like P0003 or P0011 it might be worth checking the shielding instead. I do really hope that the caps are the cause, because repairing radiation shielding is quite simple and straightforward and when you finish it - caps are discharged and calibrated automatically after the system reset, while depolarizing power couplings is much more complicated and exhausting thus more time-consuming task. And I don't have time to lose.
I think that the monoliths and pyramids are the key to solving the great mystery. Actually, I heard that their main purpose is to point a way to an ancient Felisian planet with a vault hiding plans to build intergalactic relay station powerful enough to create a local singularity field that can be used to travel between the galaxies. This sounds quite probable to me. Most of the Felisians have disappeared without a trace and all the folks left are the other Stardrifters mapping the galaxy, just like me. At least these folks who I'm aware of.
Missing Felisians may have built that station or device - or whatever it really was - and jumped to another galaxy leaving no trace behind, because the singularity field that was left by them in Feltyrion destroyed the relay (or transfered it too) and then vanished, thus covering any tracks.

EPOC 6011:961.75 - Note 15.

[Note 15.]

P0011 has 3 planets none of which are quartz worlds, unfortunately, so I have to keep looking somewhere else. I leave P0011 planets for the future explorers to catalogue. I have my own mission.

EPOC 6011:961.75 - Note 14.

[Note 14.]

I have just arrived at this system located 48.4 L.Y. from my previous location. It hosts a main star of S02 type. I have turned off my starfield amplificator since I don't need it now and having it running all the time is too energy consuming. I have given the main star a P0011 label.

Note index: [go]

EPOC 6011:961.74 - Note 13.

[Note 13.]

Right now I'm trying to find some distant system using my starboard computer's starfield amplificator module.

EPOC 6011:961.74 - Note 12.

[Note 12.]

It's high time I started looking for quartz worlds. These pyramid-like structures... I can't stop thinking about what they really are. Maybe they are some sort of beacons that are spread all over the galaxy... but what are they pointing at then?

Note index: [go]

EPOC 6011:945.124 - Note 11.

[Note 11.]

I came back to my stardrifter. All systems ready.

Note index: [go]

EPOC 6011:945.119 - Note 10.

[Note 10.]

I am watching the moon growing bigger and bigger as my ship is approaching it. I can hear the beeps from my onboard navcomp indicating that all systems are functioning properly and there is no need for course correction. Only computer's lights and HUD are illuminating the ship's interior. I wonder what is like on the P0010_M1_0009's surface.

Note index: [go]

EPOC 6011:945.118 - Note 9.

[Note 9.]

It's high time I started my research on quartz worlds. I will check R10 moon of P0010_P1_0004 first.

Note index: [go]

EPOC 6011:944.521 - Note 8.

[Note 8.]

I know that I should be conducting my research on deserts of the quartz moons now... I just feel irresistible need to stop for a moment and admire beauty of the universe. I am standing on my stardrifter's (I must name my ship!) deck near the main window. Ship is orbiting P0010_P1_0004 at near distance so I have a breathtaking view on its dense layer of clouds covering the whole planet like a thick blanket. Clouds are moving rather slowly with one or two faster moving streaks from time to time. I wish I could land on its surface but it is not consistent so this is impossible. I can only imagine how it may look like to fly through its dense layers of clouds. At some distance of this world is located its thin ring. Not only the planet itself is wonderful to look at but also its numerous moons. Two of them are made of quartz so they are on my list to check for pyramids. I wonder if it is true that they lead (the pattern may be a road sign of some sort) to that homeworld most of former space pilots were talking about. The pattern may be anything from just random to some specific star pattern visible from the sky of aforesaid world. But if it is indeed a star pattern, how many pyramids one has to find to determine galactic coordinates? And what about the date the pattern was let's say recorded? Everything is on a move - stars, planets, moons. Even if I figure out where it points to, how am I supposed to know that the planet is still there and not L.Y.s away? Maybe it is some unique world that doesn't change its position? So many stars, most of them have planets, planets have moons, countless possibilities for conducting research. Maybe I was meant to win this ship on a lottery? Maybe I have to find this hidden gem in space?

EPOC 6011:944.300 - Note 7.

[Note 7.]

I am wondering what will I find on the surface of two quartz moons of P0010_P1_0004. I hope there will be plenty of pyramids. I remember stories told by deep space pilots and explorers that they might have been built in a pattern that will show a way to the homeworld of some ancient race that built them. That homeworld is thought to have their library filled up with invaluable knowledge about Feltyrion origins and us, Felisians.

EPOC 6011:944.250 - Note 6.

[Note 6.]

TYPES module from Department of Astrocartography is really useful and I use it quite often when I check newly discovered star system if it has quartz worlds.

Note index: [go]

EPOC 6011:942.277 - Note 5.

[Note 5.]

Okay I am ready to go in search of more quartz worlds. I need to refuel my ship, so I targeted a S06 type star 29.5 L.Y. from P0003. My Vimana drive is ready to engage and start.

Note index: [go]

EPOC 6011:942.254 - Note 4.

[Note 4.]

After I check that crater-like feature on P0003_P1_0003 at day-time and LQ 105:095 at night, I will leave this system in search of more quartz worlds to continue my reseach on pyramid-like structures.

Note index: [go]

EPOC 6011:942.228 - Note 3.

[Note 3.]

I got back from the P0003_P1_0003 surface to the ship. I think that I will start doing research on magnetic deviation on planets and moons. I will be taking measures in different areas on a given planet or moon and then I will average them to finally draw a north line on x/y coordinate system, which will show magnetic deviation in degrees.

Note index: [go]

EPOC 6011:941.753 - Note 2.

[Note 2.]

I am tired of this system, I need something new. I will check S02 system located 30.73 L.Y. from P0002. Targeting computer onboard my stardrifter says it is a white dwarf star and there are possible harmful radiations. I'd better watch out and keep a safe distance from that star when I arrive in the system.

Note index: [go]

EPOC 6011:940.54 - Note 1.

[Note 1.]

I have installed update to my Stardrifter's computer. Now I can use TYPES, SCD and RINGS modules from the Department of Astrocartography. Nice and very useful thing to have on board. Quick scan of P0002 using TYPES revealed that there are 6 companion stars.
